POWERGRID Partners with Haryana Govt. for Upgradation of Cremation Grounds under Shiv Dham Yojana

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Haryana State Development and Panchayat Department to upgrade crematoriums and burial grounds in rural Haryana under the Shiv Dham Yojana.


The MoU was formalised in the presence of Haryana’s Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister for Development and Panchayats, POWERGRID’s Chairman and Managing Director R.K. Tyagi, Director (Personnel) Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Additional CEO of Haryana State CSR Trust Gaurav Singh, and senior officials from POWERGRID, Haryana’s government, and district administration.

The Shiv Dham Yojana will impact 503 villages and 658 cremation and burial sites across Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal, and Rewari districts. It aims to provide essential facilities, including drinking water, covered shelters, access roads, and boundary walls, ensuring a dignified environment for last rites. The initiative also incorporates eco-friendly practices, with implementation overseen by Haryana’s Development and Panchayat Department.

POWERGRID integrates Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into its core operations, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through its CSR efforts, it actively contributes to India’s economic and social development.

As of November 15, 2024, POWERGRID operates 280 substat]lkmn  ons, over 1,78,975 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, and a transformation capacity of 5,43,961 MVA. Leveraging cutting-edge automation and digital solutions, it maintains a transmission system availability exceeding 99.8%.
