Appointments across Ministries and States, Busani Venkateshwara Rao named Chairman Telangana Backward Classes Commission

Busani Venkateshwara Rao, a retired 1993-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as Chairman of the Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes (BCs). Tasked with conducting an in-depth enumeration of Backward Classes across Telangana, the commission aims to assess reservation needs for these communities within local governance. Busani Venkateshwara Rao, formerly the Commissioner of Telangana’s fisheries department, will lead this vital initiative, supported by IFoS officer B Saidulu, who has been appointed as the commission’s secretary.


In another key central appointment, Manasi Sahay Thakur, a 2009-batch IAS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been designated as Director in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for a five-year term. According to a Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) order issued on November 5, 2024, Thakur’s assignment under the central staffing scheme will continue for five years or until further notice. Currently, she serves as Director of Tourism and Civil Aviation in her home cadre.

Meanwhile, in West Bengal, Aditi Chaudhury, a 2014-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as Special Secretary in the Department of Women & Child Development & Social Welfare. Previously, Chaudhury was Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Hooghly district. Another West Bengal cadre officer, Neha Banerjee, from the 2020 batch, has been named Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Purba Medinipur. Banerjee’s previous posting was as Sub Divisional Officer in Khatra division, Bankura district.
