In a substantial effort to enhance law enforcement across Tripura, the state government has ordered the transfer of eleven senior IPS and TPS officers. Issued by the General Administration (Personnel & Training) Department, the directive takes immediate effect, aiming to optimize police operations statewide.

According to the official notification, the transfers cover multiple districts and critical roles, highlighting the government’s proactive stance on bolstering public safety and administrative efficiency. Key appointments include:

  • Avinash Rai, a 2019 batch IPS officer, is now the Superintendent of Police (SP) for the North District, moving from his previous role as SP in Dhalai.
  • Bhanupada Chakraborty, an IPS officer of the 2014 batch and former SP of North District, has been reassigned to Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Agartala, reflecting the need for experienced leadership in central operations.
  • Mihir Lal Das, TPS Gr–I, formerly in charge of Cyber Crime, will now oversee law enforcement as SP in Dhalai, a district known for its unique administrative demands.
  • 2022 batch IPS officer Ashish Kumar Thakur has been appointed as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Kanchanpur, a critical post for regional security.
  • Debabrata Saha, TPS Gr–II, has shifted from SDPO Dharmanagar to Deputy SP for West District, where his expertise is expected to support local policing and crime prevention.

Other transfers include key officers assuming vital roles across Dharmanagar, Udaipur, the Tripura State Pollution Control Board, and more. These assignments, signed by Deputy Secretary S.K. Debbarma, emphasize a flexible and dynamic approach to policing across Tripura.

This reshuffle follows a similar notification from Saturday, which saw the transfer of 19 officers, underscoring Tripura’s commitment to responsive and effective law enforcement.
