
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has confirmed that the Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20, 2024, while Jharkhand will vote in two phases, on November 13 and 20. A by-election in Wayanad is also set for November 13, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
The EC also announced bypolls for three Lok Sabha and 47 assembly seats. In Maharashtra, the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance aims to counter anti-incumbency, while the Congress-led Maha Vikas Agadhi (MVA) hopes to build on its Lok Sabha success. In Jharkhand, the JMM-led I.N.D.I.A. bloc aims to retain power against the BJP’s Hindutva-driven campaign.
