Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for a three-day visit to the United States. On September 21, he will participate in the fourth Quad Leaders’ Summit and address an event at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Hosted by President Joe Biden in Wilmington, the Quad Summit will see Modi join leaders from the US, Japan, and Australia. “I look forward to joining my colleagues President Biden, Prime Minister Albanese, and Prime Minister Kishida for the Quad Summit. The forum has emerged as a key group of like-minded countries working for peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific,” the Prime Minister tweeted. Modi also expressed anticipation for further deepening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

The Quad, which includes India, the US, Japan, and Australia, will focus on major global issues such as the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, maritime security, emerging technologies, and a groundbreaking cancer initiative. India will host the next Quad Summit.

During his visit, Modi will also meet with the Indian diaspora and prominent US business leaders to strengthen ties in AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology. On September 23, he will address the UN’s ‘Summit of the Future,’ where global leaders will discuss pressing global challenges.

Ahead of the Summit, the White House announced the creation of bipartisan House and Senate Quad Caucuses, emphasising the commitment to promoting peace and development in the Indo-Pacific.
