Gautam Solar on Wednesday announced its entry into solar cell manufacturing, with a plan to invest Rs 1,000 crore in a 2 GW facility. This new facility will help the company meet the growing demand for DCR (domestic content requirement) panels, essential for government-backed subsidy projects that mandate locally manufactured components.
By offering high-quality, DCR-compliant solar cells, Gautam Solar aims to enhance its competitiveness and emerge as a strong alternative to Chinese manufacturers, who currently dominate India’s solar cell supply chain. CEO Gautam Mohanka highlighted that the new facility aligns with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) guidelines promoting indigenous solar cell manufacturing.
