In a recent military development, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan officially took over as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff today.

Upon assuming his responsibilities, Vice Admiral Swaminathan paid homage to the courageous souls who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. He expressed his respect by laying a floral wreath at the National War Memorial, a poignant gesture symbolizing the Navy’s unwavering commitment to honor and remember its fallen comrades.

Mr. Swaminathan brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1987, he has dedicated his career to serving the nation with distinction. With expertise in Communication and Electronic Warfare, his credentials include training from prestigious institutions such as the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the United States Naval War College, Newport.

Throughout his illustrious career, Vice Admiral Swaminathan has been recognised for his exemplary service. A recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal, he has held a variety of crucial operational, staff, and training roles. Notable among these are his commands of vessels such as INS Vidyut, INS Vinash, INS Kulish, INS Mysore, and the flagship aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
