In a significant milestone, India unveiled the “Global Alliance for Global Good- Gender Equity and Equality” at the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The alliance, aimed at advancing women’s empowerment and gender equality, was introduced in the presence of World Economic Forum Founder Klaus Schwab, along with Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Hardeep Puri.
This initiative will serve as a platform for international collaboration, sharing best practices, and channeling investments into women’s education, health, and entrepreneurship. Notable global corporations like MasterCard and Microsoft, as well as numerous domestic industry leaders, have pledged their support.
Professor Klaus Schwab praised India’s participation at Davos 2024 and commended the country’s remarkable seven percent annual economic growth. He emphasized the need to maintain focus on equality and inclusion amid India’s economic prowess.
Union Minister Smriti Irani expressed gratitude to the World Economic Forum for its strong support to the Indian industry. She highlighted India’s achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including consistent economic growth, inflation control, and significant contributions to global vaccination efforts.
The alliance, dedicated to propelling India toward a more inclusive future, aligns with the government’s commitment to inclusive growth. Minister Irani emphasized the alliance’s role in attracting investments and promoting women leaders in line with PM Modi‘s development agenda. The World Economic Forum in Davos attracts leaders from around the world seeking new business opportunities, with India showcasing advancements in digital infrastructure and pioneering projects like the world’s largest hydrogen initiative.
