
Sanyam Aggarwal, who was currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Malerkotla, has been appointed as the Joint Managing Director and CEO of the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company. Aggarwal’s appointment comes as part of a sweeping bureaucratic reorganisation announced by the Punjab government just yesterday.
Sanyam Aggarwal has had several important roles in the past. He has worked as the Commissioner of Ludhiana MC, and he has also been in charge of different areas like SDM Khanna and Ludhiana, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation – Bathinda, CEO of Ludhiana Smart City, and Deputy Commissioner of Pathankot.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, Sanyam Aggarwal had secured 12th rank in the IAS (Indian Administrative Service) exam in 2012. He had even taken the exam the previous year and secured the 449th rank, but he wasn’t satisfied. He aimed to become an IAS officer and was determined to improve his rank.
During his tenure as the CEO of Ludhiana Smart City and Additional Municipal Commissioner of Ludhiana, the city of Ludhiana secured a place in the first list of smart cities released by the Government of India.
Ludhiana Smart City successfully executed several significant projects. The foremost among these was the LED project, followed by the implementation of smart signages in accordance with IRC standards. Another noteworthy accomplishment was the installation of rooftop solar projects on key government buildings, incorporating solar panels. Additionally, he ensured the establishment of a round-the-clock water supply.
