J&K’s Chief Secretary reviews Srinagar smart city projects

Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir, during a meeting yesterday with the officers of the Srinagar Smart City Ltd (SSCL), including District and Divisional Administration urged them to increase the required resources at all the sites where work is currently underway. The objective is to ensure that all the identified tasks are finished by the middle of this month.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, PDD; Principal Secretary, PWD; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; Secretary, Tourism; Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar; Commissioner, SMC/JMC; VC, LCMA; Chief Engineers of PWD and KPDCL besides other concerned officers.

Dr. Mehta emphasized the importance of efficiently utilizing time and working in double shifts to ensure the timely completion of projects under SSCL. He urged the executing agencies to take advantage of the upcoming week’s weather forecast to plan their work schedule effectively. Additionally, Dr. Mehta suggested that the agencies provide necessary facilities to laborers working on the sites so they can continue working even in inclement weather conditions.

The Chief Secretary implored the agencies in charge to keep a constant watch on the ongoing projects to ensure high-quality work and timely completion. He instructed them to clear away debris from completed sites for the convenience of the public and prepare to inaugurate them as soon as possible.

During a review of the progress of various projects, he directed the Divisional Administration to ensure that the appearance of all areas is maintained to a high standard.
