The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS), the state government of Gujarat‘s premier investment summit, is scheduled to be held from January 11–13, 2024, after a five-year hiatus, according to top state government sources. Approximately 28,360 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed at the most recent iteration of VGGS in 2019, including at least one MoU in the renewable energy industry worth at least Rs 1 lakh crore.

The state government is actively making preparations to host the summit. The state administration is putting the finishing touches on the strategy to advance VGGS 2024. The advertising campaign is anticipated to start in July. According to a top government official, road shows would be held by the state officials in important metropolises and state capitals.

VGGS was slated to take place after Covid in January 2022. The event had, however, been postponed by the state authorities at the last second. Notably, at that time, the Omicron variant-driven increase in Covid-19 cases coincided with increased tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

However, the state administration is fully geared up to host the event this time around. Two high-level meetings chaired by the state chief secretary have already been held to plan for the event, according to sources privy to the development.

All major economies including the US, UK, Japan, Germany, Netherlands in addition to Gulf countries and African countries will be approached to participate in the 10th edition of the mega investment summit, sources said.

A budget of Rs 127 crore has been set aside by the state government to promote VGGS 2024. Important meetings are also being held with Union government officials to get their opinions on how the event should be structured. The standard framework of national seminars, business meetings, and discussions will continue, the source noted.
