Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

PM Narendra Modi will launch and lay the groundwork for several projects worth more than Rs 8,500 crore in Assam on April 14, including an AlIMS and four other hospitals, a bridge over the Brahmaputra, and a methanol plant, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday.
Sarma told in a press conference that Modi would be in Guwahati for a day to kick-start various projects in both physical and virtual modes.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also witness Assam scripting the Guinness World Record-breaking Bihu dance performed by 11,000 dancers at the Sarusajai stadium in this city.

He will leave the Guwahati airport shortly after arriving in the morning for the inauguration of the AIMS Guwahati campus at Changsari on the city’s outskirts. “Modiji will dedicate AIIMS Guwahati, which was built at the cost of Rs 1,123 crore.” It will be equipped with 750 beds and 100 MBBS seats.

He will also lay the groundwork for the multi-speciality hospital that will be built on the IIT-Guwahati campus with Assam government support,” Sarma said.
The state government will invest approximately Rs 600 crore in the Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovative Institute, a joint venture with IITGuwahati. Aside from healthcare, the JV is expected to provide engineering solutions for indigenous healthcare instruments.

Sarma said the PM will also virtually inaugurate three new medical colleges at From the AlIMS campus, the state government built Nalbari (Rs 615 crore), Nagaon (Rs 560 crore), and Kokrajhar (Rs 535 crore). Each of these hospitals will have 500 beds and 100 MBBS seats. Following that, he will virtually distribute health cards to 1.1 crore people, who will receive a health cover of Rs 5 lakh per year, according to the CM. From IIT Guwahati, the PM will travel to Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra to address the closing ceremony of Gauhati HCc’s platinum jubilee celebrations, according to Sarma.
