The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited announced on Tuesday that the first phase of the Mumbai Metro’s Aqua line, which runs from Aarey to BKC, will be launched in December 2023. Track laying for the underground Metro line-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) is about 60% complete, according to information from MMRCL. Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ line will be Mumbai’s first underground metro line
The initial design’s dynamic and static testing and train trials of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3 have been completed. The eight-car rake prototype ran at various speeds during the dynamic trial run. Various equipment and subsystems were also tested. Platform screen doors were one of the performance-proving tests, along with integration with signalling and telecom.
The Mumbai Metro-3 development program has been divided into two phases. Phase 1, BKC-SEEPZ, is scheduled to be ready by December 2023. Phase 2, BKC to Colaba is scheduled to begin six months after Phase 1 operations begin.
