On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for imparting skill training to youth across the state, Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) through its training partner DCF Skills on Wednesday started state’s first Skill Development Centre for the Divyang at GGN Campus, Civil Lines, Ludhiana.

This centre was inaugurated by Deepti Uppal, Mission Director, PSDM. Speaking on the occasion, Uppal said that it is utmost important to inculcate the Divyang people in the mainstream of society and provide them skill training, which will certainly help them to gain some specific skill, through which they can be made self dependent and start earning. She further said that this will help in making Divyangs an equal partner in the socio-economic growth of the country and ensuring a life full of dignity and pride for them.

She said that this centre will impart data entry operator and customer care executive training courses to 180 deaf people. All the students shall be provided placement assistance at the end of the course, free of cost. “It is an immense pleasure for PSDM to establish a Skill Development Centre for Divyang to provide skill training to them as a noble cause,” the Mission Director said.

On the occasion, ADC (Development) Amit Panchal also appreciated the efforts of DCF Skills and promised to extend all possible support for providing employment opportunities to the Divyang who shall be undergoing training in this project. Additional Mission Director PSDM Rajesh Tripathi informed that it is the moral responsibility of every citizen to extend a helping hand to the Divyang as they are blessed by the almighty.
