3.6 crore ration card holders to get DigiLocker facility in UP

The Uttar Pradesh Government is set to provide DigiLocker facility to 3.6 crore ration card holders soon.


The facility will enable the beneficiaries to avail ration easily across the country under One Nation One Card Scheme.

The Department of Information Technology, Uttar Pradesh has included this initiative in its 100-day action plan. The State government has already initiated action in this regard.

The facility will not only make ration available to people easily, but also prevent malpractices by dealers. The collection of ration by the beneficiaries will be digitally recorded.


The DigiLocker, an initiative towards paperless governance, aims at digital empowerment of the citizens by facilitating access to their authentic digital document wallet.

DigiLocker at a glance

DigiLocker is a virtual locker, in which necessary documents such as PAN card, driving license, voter ID card etc. can be saved. Many types of government certificates can also be stored in it. To avail DigiLocker services, users need to possess an Aadhar card.
