In a recent move, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal appointed retired Jharkhand High Court judge Harish Chandra Mishra as the Lokayukta of Delhi. The position of Delhi’s Lokayukta was unoccupied since December 2020 when the previous Lokayukta Rewa Khetrapal retired.

The government order to appoint Mishra as Delhi’s Lokayukta was issued on March 15. As per the orders, he will serve the post for a tenure of five years from the date of assumption of the charge. Prior to the new appointment, Mishra retired as Jharkhand High Court judge. Also, he had served as the acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
