Centre Assigns Additional Charges to 3 IAS Officers, K Rajaraman Made Secretary, MeitY

The Government of India, facing an acute shortage of top administrators, saddled additional responsibilities to three senior IAS officers. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has nodded to the Centre’s request of assigning additional charges with immediate effect.


As per the orders issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Alkesh Kumar (IAS 1990-Batch) has been given the additional charge of Chairperson, National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC), Cabinet Secretariat. Kumar is presently holding the post of Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat.

Barun Mitra, an IAS officer of 1987-Batch of Manipur cadre, is serving as Secretary for the Department of Justice has been assigned the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs.

The Secretary for Department of Telecommunications, K Rajaraman (IAS 1989-Batch) will be taking over the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
