Maharashtra CS Sitaram Kunte retires, Debashish Chakrabarty takes additional charge of post

Sitaram Kunte retired

Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Sitaram Kunte retired from the post on November 30. Earlier, the state government tabled a proposal to extend Kunte’s service for a period of six months which failed to take a stamp of approval from the Centre.

However, looking at the rich administrative experience of the 1985-Batch IAS officer, Sitaram Kunte, the Government of Maharashtra appointed him as Principal Advisor to Chief Minister Uddav Thackeray.

Meanwhile, the state government assigned the charge of Chief Secretary post to Debashish Chakrabarty in additional capacity. Chakrabarty, an IAS officer of 1986-Batch, is currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Planning Department.

Sitaram Kunte assumed the charge of Chief Secretary of Maharashtra on February 28 this year after the incumbent CS Sanjay Kumar’s retirement from the post.
