Government of Chhattisgarh


In its recent order, on November 11, the Government of Chhattisgarh appointed Ashok Juneja as the Director General of Police (DGP) for the state. Juneja, a 1989-Batch IPS officer, will replace the incumbent Police Chief DM Awasthi in accordance with the orders. Juneja is presently holding the post of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Anti Naxal operations and State Intelligence Bureau. Also, he is holding the additional charges of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and Special Task Force (STF).

With the order, the state government posted Awasthi, a 1986-Batch IPS officer, at the State Police Academy in Raipur as the Director General. He was folding the charge of DGP Chhattisgarh since December 2018.

The orders to reshuffle the charge of the Police Chief came following a review meeting presided by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel where he expressed his displeasure over the state’s law and order and slow-paced progress in the works of the home department.
