COVID-19 guidelines for exhibitions

Giving a breath of relief to the exhibitions and events-based companies, the Government of India has given approval to organising all kind of exhibitions across the country and the Department of Commerce will be issuing a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the same. The new SOPs to be issued will come in effect from February 1 to February 28.

Moreover, the new COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Centre on January 27, 2021, also allowed cinema halls and swimming pools to resume operations. Though swimming has been given a green signal and cinema halls have been allowed to function with more than 50 per cent seating capacity, a separate set of SOPs will be issued for it by the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting respectively.

Further, the Ministry of Home Affairs is also in talks with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to look for possibilities to resume international flights. As of yet, the air travel was allowed under the Air Bubble agreements with various countries and the Vande Bharat scheme. Also, the Centre has removed the capping on the number of people who could be part of a social, cultural, religious, and political or sports gathering.

In this regard, the Centre has asked the states and union territories to prepare their own SOPs for effective implementation of the new COVID guidelines.
