Jorhat district, Assam to impose total lockdown from July 9 to 15


In an effort to strengthen their response against the Coronavirus pandemic, Assam’s Jorhat Municipal Board announced a total lockdown in areas under its jurisdiction from July 9 to July 15. The District Magistrate and the Chairperson, DDMA, Jorhat, have released orders for all the weekly huts/markets to remain shut during the entire lockdown period of six days.

According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, State Health Minister, on July 6, as many as 786 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the state of which 598 cases were reported from Guwahati city. With this, the total number of cases has risen to 12,522 including 7,882 people who have recovered cases, 4,623 which are active currently and 14 deaths.
