UP Police introduces Commissioner System; appoints Sujit Pandey and Alok Singh as Police Commissioners

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has initiated the system of Police Commissioner in the cities of Lucknow and Noida. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved the proposal on Monday. Senior IPS officers Sujit Pandey and Alok Singh have been named the first police commissioners of Lucknow and Noida respectively.

Pandey, a 1994-Batch IPS officer was serving as the Additional Director General (ADG) of Police in Prayagraj while Singh (1995-Batch) was the ADG of Meerut.

Along with the appointments of the Police Commissioners, there have been various other transfers among UP Police which include Inspector General attached to DGP (Headquarter) Naveen Arora and IG Provincial Armed Constabulary (Headquarter) Lucknow Nilabja Chaudhary will be the two joint police commissioners of Lucknow.

Asim Arun, ADG of Police, (Technical Services, ITECCS, UP 112) has been named the ADG UP 112 Lucknow.

Akhilesh Kumar, DIG PAC (Headquarter) Lucknow and Sriparna Ganguli, DIG, Jail Administration has been transferred as Additional Police Commissioners of Noida.

As many as 17 IPS officers of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) have been transferred. As many as four officers of Director General of Police (DGP) have been transferred.
