How is PerkinElmer making an impact to Bangladesh’s scientific community?

PerkinElmer India is diligently working to provide scientific solutions to Bangladesh’s scientific community ranging across various market segments like Pharmaceutical, Genomic Research, Food, Textile, Chemical, Environmental and Polymer industry. Bangladesh is very structured and has a set of technically competent and motivated individuals who work closely with the customers to help them address their needs. They are backed by the sales and the technical team in India. Currently, we have collaborated with hospitals in Bangladesh to screen newborns for Congenital Hypothyroidism, giving those babies a healthy start to their life. Our Applied Genomics team has installed Janus Liquid Handler for automating radioimmunoassay (RIA) applications and LabChip for analyzing DNA.Our Analytical and Lifesciences solutions have helped laboratories in Bangladesh to achieve faster results with less use of resources and help adhere to compliance.

What is the roadmap ahead to continue the relationship with Bangladesh on this front?

Bangladesh is making rapid strides in the field of science and technology, research and quality healthcare in the last decade. The pharma sector, for instance, is growing close to 15% y-o-y and is poised to touch around 6B$ in 2023. Adoption of PerkinElmer’s automated RIA in other Institutes of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences would help yield higher efficiency in molecular biology labs and protein application research. Similarly, tighter laws are being imposed by Bangladesh Food Safety Authority which is making all the food manufacture and testing labs to be more vigilant.

PerkinElmer provides solutions ranging from Spectroscopy to Chromatography to core Life Sciences, Diagnostics& Informatics. Textile market in Bangladesh is on the rise with tremendous demand in International and domestic market. With increased emphasis on quality in textile processing, testing labs are on lookout for more & more quality-driven, productive solutions like PerkinElmer’s QSight LCMS/MS, a new age technology which can achieve results faster than any other LC-MS/MS in the market. To give the growing economy of Bangladesh a healthy boost, newborn screening should be formulated into a health program where every newborn is screened for the metabolic and genetic disorders. Giving the newer generation a healthy start is a sign of a developing economy.
