Arvind Saxena appointed Chairman, UPSC

Arvind SaxenaArvind Saxena, who is currently the acting head of Union Public Service Commission has now been appointed as the Chairman of UPSC till 2020.


Prior to joining UPSC, he was the Director of the Aviation Research Centre (ARC). He joined UPSC as a Member on May 8, 2015.

He is a civil engineer, having done his Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering besides M.Tech. in Systems Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi,

In 1978, he joined the civil services and was assigned to the Indian Postal Service.  In 1988,  Saxena started working at the Cabinet Secretariat, where he specialised in the study of strategic developments in neighbouring countries. He has also served in different countries and in the States of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.


A recipient of Awards for Meritorious Services (2005) and Distinguished Services (2012), Saxena has travelled extensively in India and abroad.
