Nidhi Khare, an IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre 1992 batch has been appointed as the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. She will hold the post for a period of five years.
She is currently holding the charge of Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Government of Jharkhand.

She is married to Amit Khare, Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Ministry. She has requested the Central Government for central deputation.
Piyush Goyal, an IAS officer of Nagaland cadre 1994 batch has also been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs for five years. He has taken charge in place of Sudhir Kumar Saxena, an IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh 1987 batch.
