Election Commission of India

Election Commission of IndiaAhead of Lok Sabha elections that are scheduled for next year, the Election Commission of India has now made it possible for voters to register themselves in voters’ list and update details of their existing voter card online.

The services, available on National Voters’ Services Portal, have been broadly classified into six categories: Apply online for registration of new voter/due to shifting from AC; Apply online for registration of overseas voter; Deletion or objection in electoral roll; Correction of entries in electoral roll; Transposition within Assembly; and Track application status.

Under the new online facility, all one needs to do is fill the prescribed forms on the portal to get their details updated in the voters’ list.

The Election Commission of India has also launched a web-based application that alerts electoral officers about new registrations or changes in the list.

Earlier in July this year, the EC had launched an online app for citizens to report model code of conduct violations during elections. The application, called ‘cVIGIL’, is currently being tested and will be made available before the Assembly elections of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Rajasthan.
