Digital India Conclave

Digital India Conclave-Chandigarh, a joint initiative of Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh and Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd to highlight the innovations underpinning Government of India’s ambitious ‘Digital India’ Mission to bring in transparency and efficiency in the delivery of government services, will be held in Chandigarh on August 30. Manpreet Singh Badal, Finance Minister of Punjab, will be the chief guest on the occasion.   

The conclave, which will be graced by Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, as the Special Guest and Jitender Yadav, Special Secretary, Department of IT Chandigarh Administration as the Programme Chair, will see day-long intense deliberations among the country’s top technology leaders and decision makers on various digital initiatives impacting citizens’ experience in accessing government services and the ways to improve them further.


The inaugural session, entitled Digital India for New India: The Road Ahead, will also see the launch of the Special Issue of eGov Magazine.  

Among notable key speakers participating in the inaugural session will be Dr Neena Pahuja, Director General, ERNET India; Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Department of Information Technology and Finance, Chandigarh UT Administration; M S Padhi, Principal Secretary to Hon’ble Governor, Government of Odisha; Dr N S Kalsi, Additional Chief Secretary, Home & Governance Reforms, Government of Punjab; Vipul Mitra, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour Department, Government of Gujarat, and Ashok Dalwai, CEO, National Rainfed Area Authority. Dr Ravi Gupta, CEO, Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd, will give the vote of thanks to all the eminent participants.


Subsequent to this session, there will the inauguration of Expo where top digital technology companies will showcase their products and services. It will be followed by technology presentations by top officials from Larsen & Toubro, Megasoft Information Systems Pvt Ltd and a presentation by Lalit K Mishra, Head-Strategic Engagements (IoT), Tata Communications Limited.

There are three panel discussions planned for the day, which include topics like ‘Smart Cities in the era of Digital India’, ‘Leveraging Futuristic Technology for Good Governance: Is IoT, Blockchain, Al the Future? Challenges & Opportunities’ and Transformation in BFSI Sector through Innovation: Ensuring Digital Economy in Digital India.’

The key speakers in the panel discussion on ‘Smart Cities in the era of Digital India’ will include B Purushartha, Secretary, Lokpal, Government of Punjab; Sanyam Aggarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Ludhiana Smart City Limited; Sandeep Kadam, Commissioner, Dharamshala Municipal Corporation; Yash Pal Yadav, Commissioner, Gurugram Municipal Corporation; and Amit Talwar, Additional Commissioner-Transport, Chandigarh UT.

The panel to discuss ‘Leveraging Futuristic Technology for Good Governance: Is IoT, Blockchain, Al the Future? Challenges & Opportunities’ will have key speakers like Lt Gen B S Dhaliwal, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Punjab; Vijayendra Kumar, Managing Director, HARTRON, Government of Haryana; Golok Kumar Simli, Head-Technology, Passport Seva, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India; Arjun Sharma, Director, Department of Information Technology,

Chandigarh UT Administration; Lalit K Mishra, Head-Strategic Engagements(IoT), Tata Communications Limited.

There will also be a presentation by Himanshu Verma, Technical Expert-IT, GIZ India, to highlight his perspective on MyGov.

The Panel Discussion on ‘Transformation in BFSI Sector through Innovation: Ensuring Digital Economy in Digital India’ will see key speakers Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Department of Finance and Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration;

Andra Vamsi, Additional Registrar (Banking), Cooperative Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Harish Nayar, Special Secretary, Finance Department, Chandigarh Administration; and Bhawna Garg, Deputy Director General, Regional Office,

Chandigarh, UIDAI, present their perspectives.

It will be followed by a technology presentation by Dinesh Shetty, Managing Director, Megasoft Information Systems Pvt Ltd.

Subsequent to this, there will be a Special Presentation — Digital Education Perspective from Rajasthan — by Ashutosh A T Pednekar, Commissioner, College Education & Secretary Higher Education, Government of Rajasthan.  

This will be followed by two Special Addresses, first on Digital Innovations in Haryana by Dr Rakesh Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Government of Haryana and the second on Technical Education through Technology by D K Tewari, Secretary, Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training Chandigarh UT Administration.

The event will conclude with a presentation on Testing of Citizen Centric Software Applications by Ravinder Sahi, Senior Director-ETDC, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.
