All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Chairman Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe says ‘startups’ will create new jobs in the country, emphasising the need to encourage and support them.

He was speaking at the ‘National Student Startup and Innovation Summit’ held in Ahmedabad organised jointly by the Gujarat Department of Higher and Technical Education and Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd., Asia and Middle East premier magazine on eGovernance.

During the Summit, which was organised to provide a knowledge sharing platform to promote innovation and Student Startups, Sahasrabudhe said, “At a time when jobs in the corporate world are getting either stagnant or is likely to be reduced,  the best Startups will create new jobs in the country—which need to be encouraged and supported. Technical sector has a huge potential to create jobs, and that is why AICTE formed Startup Policy on 16 November 2016.”

“Teachers, parents, society, education institutions, alumni and industry need to come together to empower students to help them become future leaders. Students can leverage electives in the entrepreneurship domain through Choice Based Credit System to understand Startup Ecosystem process. Internships can help students enhance their skills and grow in their field of study,” he added.
