Odisha, already a model state in the country in pucca housing with more than 1000 houses being built everyday, now sets a new target of completing 20 lakh pucca houses in a year. In a high-level review meeting, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed the Panchayatiraj Department to complete construction of 20 lakh pucca houses in rural areas by December, 2018.

The Chief Minister reviewed the progress in implementation of pucca house scheme. This scheme has been one of the major poll promises of ruling BJD for the last Assembly election. As per the statistics of PR department, construction of 14,11,280 pucca houses has been completed. The ambitious scheme was launched by the State Government in 2014-15 from its own funds.

As per the released data, Odisha government has accelerated construction of houses using locally available material with usage of scientific technique developed by CBRE, IIT Roorkee. Panchayatiraj Department has also ensured highest level of transparency in implementation of the program as per the directive of Chief Minister.


The Chief Minister asked the department to develop a special App so that names of beneficiaries and houses constructed for them can be uploaded for public knowledge.

This housing scheme is multifold and besides providing houses, beneficiaries are being included in different livelihood schemes like goatery, poultry and dairy.
