Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has flagged off Mumbai to Goa Tejas Express train via video conferencing from Swami Narayan Sabhagruh, Dadar, Mumbai. It is a a semi high speed train having modern on-board facilities starting its journey from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai to Karmali, Goa.

The train running at a maximum speed of 200 kmph is equipped with facilities like automatic entrance doors, ergonomic comfortable seats, personal infotainment device etc. It also has GPS based passenger information system.

Another unique feature of this train is bio-toilets, touch less taps and energy efficient LED lighting. It offers celebrity chef menu to its commuters.


For enhanced security Tejas is equipped with CCTV cameras, fire and smoke detection, and fire suppression system

The train will run five days a week during non-monsoon period and  three days a week during monsoon period.


The base fare of Tejas trains will be 20% more than those of the Shatabdi Express service. All the coaches of Tejas train have been manufactured at Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, giving boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.
