Ravinder, an IAS officer of 1999 batch from Uttar Pradesh cadre has been appointed PS to Dr Mahesh Sharma, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Tourism & Culture.
Ravinder replaces B V R C Purushottam, an IAS officer of 2004 cadre from Uttarakhand cadre.
In his first-ever stint with the Government of India, he was appointed the Director, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), under the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry, in early 2014.
Prior to his central deputation, Ravinder served as Varanasi DM and further as Commissioner, Varanasi, which is the political constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
