Ashish Bahuguna, a 1978 batch IAS officer, has been appointed the Chairman of the food safety regulator, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), for a tenure of three years. He comes in place of K Chandramouli, whose tenure ended in January 2015, and since then the position had been lying vacant.
A few days ago, Health Secretary Bhanu Pratap Singh was given the interim charge of the Chairman.

Bahuguna is an IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, who had retired from the post of Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, in 2015.
