Sudhir Bhargava is new Information Commissioner

The Central Government has appointed former Social Justice and Empowerment Secretary Sudhir Bhargava as the Information Commissioner.

The 1979 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre will have a tenure of over four years.

Prior to this, Bhargava was working as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and had also served as a Government Director at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited.


The appointment was approved by President Pranab Mukherjee, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said, a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge recommended his name.
