CCTVTo ensure safety of women commuters, the Western Railway (WR) launched electronic surveillance in ladies compartments on trial basis.

Currently, the CCTV system is being installed in the ladies compartments of three rakes, with each coach having four to eight cameras.

According to report,  the system records the data in a digital video recorder, which has capacity to store the data for 30 days. The cameras have a resolution of three mega pixels with wide angle to cover all corners of the compartment.
The cameras will be connected via wi-fi to monitoring stations.


Sharat Chandrayan, chief public relations officer, WR said, “We will  see results and performance of the cameras in one rake for a few months. Gradually, the number of rakes with cameras will b.e increased.”
