Anil Swarup, a 1981 batch UP cadre IAS and Additional Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat, has been made Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Coal in the rank and pay of Secretary against the newly created post. Government also notified that Swarup will also serve as Secretary, Ministry of Coal on the superannuation of S K Srivastava on 31 October 2014.
Swarup started his career as a Collector & DM Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh and served the state government in various capacities before moving to centre. In central government, Swarup has served in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Labour & Employment and Cabinet Secretariat.
