As many as 1,183 closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) have been set up at various locations in the city to maintain security for the 10-day Ganesh festival that began on Monday. Police are in the process of identifying more places to install another 1,239 CCTVs.

CCTVs have been installed by Ganesh mandals, business establishments and social organizations. It will also help control surging crowds and cover the procession routes on immersion day. The Pune Municipal Corporation and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will install CCTVs at the immersion ghats.
