I&B Ministry to Monitor 800 TV Channels

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ( I&B) plans to launch an SMS campaign to sensitise Cable TV subscribers to fill Consumer Application Form (CAF). It will be initiated in Phase I and Phase II cities in the country.

It will empower consumers to choose and pay only for their choice of channels. The Ministry is monitoring the availability of Set Top boxes with Multi System Operators (MSOs). These operators are also informing  people about the importance of filling CAF form. Analogue signals have already been switched off by almost all the MSOs and digital signals are generally being encrypted.

Monitoring the developments made towards digitisation remains the top priority for the Ministry. According to the data received from various operators in the entire country, nearly 22 cities have achieved 100 percent digitisation phase.

The Ministry has also carried out technical inspection throughout the country to achieve 100 percent digitisation. Cohesive actions have been also taken by the Ministry like issuance of show cause notices to 48 MSOs and cancellation of licenses for 15 MSOs.
