New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has appointed Rajiv Takru as Secretary, Department of Financial Services in the Ministry of Finance.
A Mechanical Engineering graduate, Takru is 1979 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. He succeeds Dinesh Kumar Mittal, 1977 batch IAS officer of UP cadre.
Prior to this appointment Takru was Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser to Department of Health and Family Welfare. Earlier he also served as Director General of National Institute of Fashion Technology under the Ministry of Textiles.
Takru has served in various capacities both at the Centre and State in various Departments and Ministries such as Defence, Textiles, Finance & Revenue, Commerce, Urban Development and Tourism. He also served as Deputy Director at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy, Mussourie during 1988 to 1992.
