A 2-day workshop on ‘Capacity Building Measures on Urban Development and e-Governance’ started on Monday in Jammu & Kashmir. The workshop has been organized by the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation.

Ms. Neesha Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Urban and Development and Poverty Alleviation, GoI was the guest of honour at the workshop. Mr. I P Gautam, Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing, Government of Gujarat was also present to share his experiences on implementation of e-Governance in Guajrat.

The workshop has been organized by the Ministry of  UD & PA in collaboration with the Regional Capacity Building Hub (RCBH), CEPT University Ahmadabad and Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) under JnNURM,  was also attended by the officers of SMC, SDA, Directorate of ULB including other engineering departments.


In his inaugural address the Commissioner, SMC Dr G N Qasba expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries. He said civic body spread over 240 sq kms with 12 lakh population is contemplating to provide civic facilities at the doorsteps of its citizens. He hailed the role of Principal Secretary H & UDD Suresh Kumar as the one who is keen and interested to upgrade the E-Governance for the benefit and facilities of City dwellers.

He expressed thanks to all participants and speakers. On the occasion, Neesha Singh assured that there shall be no constraint of funds for capacity building measures and e-Governance.  “It has been decided that henceforth capacity building measures will be the domain of state government and funds shall be released with certain financial parameters by the government of India,” the press release said.
