Juniper Eyes e-Governance Projects in India

A provider of Internet Protocol networking equipment including switches and routers, Juniper Networks, is now keeping its eye on e-Governance projects in India in partnership with various system integrators (Sis) and IT service providers.

The company has already secured State Wide Area Network (SWAN) projects in Himachal Pradesh and Bihar in partnership with HP and TCS respectively. Now company is looking at bagging similar contracts in states like Punjab, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The cost of contract will vary between INR 450 million to 1.5 billion, where Juniper will have about 20-25 percent. Meanwhile, the company has opened a second R&D centre in Bangalore, which is capable of accommodating 1,200 people. This makes the company's Bangalore facility its largest R&D centre outside the US. According to the company, the networking market in India is estimated to be about $900 million and growing at about 20 per cent, year-on-year. Juniper is growing at 31 per cent year-on-year, which is ahead of the industry.
