The electronic governance model of Nigeria has been endorsed by the United Nations (UN). According to UN, electronic version of e-Governance model is a viable option for successful deployment of e-Government services across the world.
The endorsement was given at the UN-organised International Conference for Electronic Governance (ICEGOV2007) held at the China in this week. While speaking at the conference, Olu Agunloye, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Nigeria e-Government Strategies Limited (Negst), stated that e-Government is electronic administration of governance, which is capable of bridging the digital divide. e-Government refers to government's use of information technology to exchange information and services with citizens, businesses, and other arms of government.
