The Oman Government is planning to start the second phase of digital society programme, after successfully completing the first phase of the programme in the country.

While speaking at the 'World Information Society (WIS) Day', the chief executive of the Information Technology Authority (ITA), Salim bin Sultan Al Ruzeiqi said that the theme of this year would be 'Empower Every Citizen With ICT Skills' under its 'Digital Literacy Training Programme'. The government has launched the project in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Service. The government has launched the project as part of ITA's national IT training and awareness initiative, which aims o provide digital literacy training and bridge digital divide. In the second phase of the programme, the ITA will train all members of the community in training centres all over the Sultanate. The plan will cover all the 108,000 civil service employees in the country.
