The European Commission and the World Economic Forum, the world-renowned Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has ranked Malta among top 25 nations in the world in e-Readiness.

EU has ranked Malta at 24 out of 64 countries in a worldwide survey of countries, including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Estonia and Slovenia. The EIU defines 'e-Readiness' as “the 'state of play' of a country's ICT infrastructure and the ability of its consumers, businesses and governments to use ICT to their benefit. The report confirms that Malta's Government as an ideal partner for investors and this is especially true for the global ICT industry. The launch of SmartCity Malta will continue to make ICTs the new pillar of Malta's economy, whic it has already started to be. Malta Government has partnered with IBM to provide traineeships for Maltese management and ICT professionals in IBM's research and operational institutions world-wide.
