Indian President, Kalam asks CAG to implement e-Audit system

Indian President, A.P.J Abdul Kalam, asked the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), to implement e-Audit to improve performance and transparency, and assure the accountability of the government for the benefit of the people. 

 

While addressing to the members of CAG audit advisory board, he expressed his concerned over the non-utilization utilization of the allocated budget. He told that e-Governance could be supported through e-Audit to enhance the performance of Governance. He told that e-Audit would enable CAG to put it into operation an alert mechanism based on the performance and deviation analyses even when the programme is in operation. He emphasised to built an e-Audit system, which would be based on e-Governance web service system to all concerned ministries and departments through the smart and secured e-Governance GRID. e-Audit system will also include e-Commerce and procurement programme. The President also asked the CAG to consider creation and maintenance of a centralised national asset register.
