Indian Spice Board is planning to launch electronic auction of cardamom in April. The board has initiated testing of the software and also installing the hardware at the six auctions centres of India.

The board will introduce e-Auction of cardamom in two months and the e-Auction for tea would be place in October. According to the Union minister of State for commerce Jairam Ramesh, the e-Auction platform will run parallel to the traditional outcry system and auctioneers would be slowly initiated to the new system. The board has convened a meeting with cardamom exporters on March 2 where an evaluation of the market would be undertaken and exports strategies discussed.
