The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is moving in the direction of e-Governance in India. The Municipal Corporation is purchasing a 'central server' that will help the municipal body in offering many online services.

The Corporation has signed a deal with a leading information and computer system to offer thee service. The company will not only set up the server at a centrally located municipal office, but will also help in linking the server to other nodes. It will help the municipal body to offer online services and also to strengthen its already growing electronic network among the head office and its numerous offices across the city. The company will also be responsible for technical back-up for 10-years after the implementation of the project.
