Indian Government plans to set Data centres across all states

The Indian Government is encouraging e-Governance plans by setting up the State Data Centre across India.

According to S P Singh, senior director at the Electronic Governance Management Unit, State Data Centers will play major role in encouraging and supporting initiatives of National e-Governance plan (NeGP) in India. The data centres are being set-up to consolidate services, applications to provide efficient electronic delivery of G2G, G2C and G2B services. The State Government can set up Data centres for its management and operations. Otherwise the State Government can use existing Data Centre of NIC for hosting their applications. Government is planning to set data centres in all state. The Union Government is expecting to approve the proposals from consultants by the end of this year.
