On the eve of the New Year, Thailand's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Ministry plans to see millions more people nationwide have access to the Internet.

According to ICT Minister Sora-at Klinpratoom, the ministry would see to it that the number of people given access to the internet would increase from 12 million people currently to 18 million people within 2006. The Internet's band width and speed would also be increased, while more telephone lines able to be internet-linked would be installed in remote areas throughout the country. The ICT Ministry also plans to deliver 250,000 computers to public schools nationwide within 2006 and to provide laptops, at an average price of 4,000 baht, to students throughout the country, beginning from late 2006.
