Really, the direction and pace of development in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) have led the world economies to recognise the importance of ICT in catalysing economic activities, in efficient governance and in empowerment of the society.
ICT can provide a practical and enabling solution for improving the quality of life style, thereby providing various services at the doorstep. The use of ICT in school has the potential not only to improve education, but also to empower people, strengthen governance, open up new market and galvanise the effort to achieve the human development goal for the country. A disaster warning and control system through ICT would have saved thousands of lives lost due to the Super Cyclone in Orissa, India in November 1999, and again during the tsunami disaster in December 2004. The impact of ICT is not only limited to the education sector rather a good ICT infrastructure can be used to empower local communities and facilitate the human society to access global as well as local information and knowledge.
