BSNL Towers in Semi-Urban Areas to be Leased Out
Four new products have been launched by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) which are, Saarathy (mobile navigation solutions); MI SDK – medical informatics SDK suite with SDK for DICOM and SDK for HL7; EQ-Check (software for computer aided seismic checking and design of concrete structures) and GO-Write (GIST online writer independent text entry).
INR 5,000 crore will be spent by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of Government of India to ensure cellular connectivity in rural areas across the country. Towards this Ericsson will provide low-cost towers.

The low awareness of value added services (VAS) restricted the growth of value added services in rural India, says a study carried out by Lirneasia, a regional information and communication technology (ICT) policy and regulation capacity-building organisation active across the Asia Pacific region.
